Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible! music) is to:
1) Determine where your ancestral families were on 1 January 1913 - 100 years ago.
2) List them, their family members, their birth years, and their residence location (as close as possible). Do you have a photograph of their residence from about that time, and does the residence still exist?
Well my mom was not born yet, and her parent were not married yet, but I had 4 grandparents, 4 great grandparents and three great great grandparents alive in January of 1913.
Well my dad Claude Dillingham Hansen was born August 8, 1906 in Sebeka Minnesota and was living on a farm north of Columbus Montana with his mom and dad and two older sisters and one older brother.
Anton Mikkel Hansen was born July 10, 1870 in Denmark, and besides the farm he ran the grain elevator in Columbus. Anna M. Dillingham was born June 11, 1872 in Minnesota. I do have a picture of the family at the farm a couple of years later after the last son was born. I also have a picture of Anton at his desk at the grain elevator. The farmhouse is still there.
Stanislaus Potoski Dillingham born August 8, 1835 in Maine and his wife Eliza Minerva Hellenbolt born in Wisconsin March 1, 1845. These were the parents of Anna Dillingham and they lived at Crystal Lake, Illinois with their daughter Fredelene Dillingham. I do have a real poor picture of them about that old.
My other grandparents got married August 16, 1913, so lets start with my grandfather Charles Rupert Kelly born August 28, 1890 at Trenton Missouri and he was still living there in 1913. His father Robert Forsyth Kelly was born in Illinois July 23, 1855 and he lived in Trenton then also. His wife Vada Belle Hert had just passed away October 8, 1912. Vada's mom Sadie Jane Selsor born March 19, 1832 was still living in Harrison County Missouri. I have very few pictures of anyone from Missouri.
My Grandmother Cleo Travis was born August 8, 1890 at Mill Grove Missouri and was living in Trenton in 1913. Notice her birth date and my grandfathers, as he joked about marrying an older woman. Her father Orville Travis born in 1864 in Illinois, living in Spickard Missouri in 1913. his first wife Dona Vanderpool had died in 1900 just after birth of child number seven. He remarried and had ten more kids. Orville's mom Mary Elizabeth Travis born September 10, 1833 in New York and living in Mill Grove Missouri in 1913. Dona's father Joseph Vanderpool born about 1831 in Tennessee. I think he was still in Spickard in 1913. I do have some pictures of Mill Grove, Spickard and Trenton Missouri taken a few years ago when we visited the area.
